What Not To Do

In Entrepreneurship

This book is not necessarily meant to be read from front to back, as each chapter is a lesson in and of itself, something to learn from mistakes that I have made or witnessed and that are being made repeatedly by others. This is not and should not be about me or my journey. So, I have interviewed dozens of successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs, video-recorded their conversations, edited their guidance, and interlaced their wisdom into the various chapters of this book.

What people are saying

George E. Contrary to what most people would tell about what to do when becoming an entrepreneur, this book tells about what one should “not” do when on the said path. In this book, Sanjeev has rationally coined the journey, its hurdles, its pros, and the cons that may be associated with each of the steps taken. Why do I feel that the book is practical, understandable, and something that the masses can relate to? Because these are inspired by real-life experiences. What I think may become difficult for the readers to comprehend is what goes on in the financial markets. While the experiences are enriched, there may be a lot who do not have firsthand experience or knowledge about how these share prices work. However, I being one of those, did brief primary research before I moved forward owing to the fact that the experiences and the nitty-gritty that was being expounded upon were literally worth it for anyone who wants to take the path of entrepreneurship. Sanjeev was not the average native who had equal chances like each of his counterparts. He was among the ones who earned it and who made it to the place he is at.
Salwa B. Sanjeev, in this book, has done a tremendously remarkable job of highlighting what a lot of us might have been doing, and the bad news may be that we may be doing it wrong. There are quite a few things that one has to take care of when on the path of trying to make their venture successful. The real-life experiences quoted in the book provide in-depth knowledge of what goes inside the meeting rooms and how it is not just the work that has to be done while keeping the stakeholders hooked, but one needs to have the long-sightedness to evaluate the aftermath that they may need to take care of as a result of those decisions.
Douglas W- As someone who has been through the roller coaster of the nature of business, I have read many business books to help keep me motivated and also ahead of the competition. With time I’ve realized that most books often repeat the same notions yet in a different way, this making books for entrepreneurs relatively mundane. I was lucky enough to come across What not to do in Entrepreneurship and it has changed my life for the better. The book is exactly what the title recommends, as I realized with each page I flipped all the mistakes that I have been making in my own ventures as well the solution to these concerns. The book took upon study of the average 7 year entrepreneur journey, as well as keen stats and interesting history on the nature and roots of self-made men and the nature of their financial stability. I would defiantly recommend this book for any and all the businesses men, as I have with my colleagues as well as my managers at work. Our training and development team has also helped us to make this book a part of our weekly HR discussions and refreshers. From senior level managers to junior level executives, this book is for all. The book also strongly emphasized on what a business owner needs in the modern world and quite a bit of essential tools to continue to grow your business, and as a businessman.
Josh K- I loved this book. Well written and highly intellectual is the two words I’d like to use. Though I have not read much books, let alone leave reviews for them. But after reading the book and see what other people had to say, I felt the need to make the effort to write this. This is THE book. It can be your go to book when you’re facing obstacles with your business as well as help guide you the right way. The author seems to have dedicated a good portion of his life interviewing successful entrepreneurs from different backgrounds as we get to peak into great minds who have accomplished something similar to what we aspire for. The book speaks about the common problem with most motivational business stories, as well as brief what Capital means in the modern world. The marble theory of getting what you want and the vortex theory of life and business, were rather interesting. His perspective on fear and how it prohibits growth will definitely give you something to think about. The book goes through so many aspects that it’s difficult to believe it’s all in just one book! I would certainly recommend everyone to focus on and read the interviews in this book whenever you need just that extra bit of motivation, or a newer perspective of your own problems, its general wisdom on important topics as well as the author’s openness and keen knowledge and experience is what makes this book a must read for anyone and everyone!
